A small Japanese carrying box, kobako. The small box crafted of keyaki (zelova) wood for the exterior and kiri (paulownia) wood interiors. The chest with fine iron hardware and fittings, including warabite-type carrying handle. The front hinged door opening to reveal two small drawers, the lower drawer with lock. The box with replaced door hinges, and due to wood expansion the door is difficult to close. The interior black lacquer finish on the door with significant loss. Otherwise with fine patina from wear and use.
